WEBDESK: Jamie Vardy, captain and legendary striker of Leicester City, has officially announced that he will leave the club at the end of the 2024–25 season. The 37-year-old striker, who joined Leicester City in 2012 from Fleetwood Town, leaves behind a legacy that fans will never forget.

Jamie Vardy scored 198 goals in 496 appearances, becoming Leicester City’s top Premier League goal scorer. His most unforgettable moment came in 2015–16, when he played a key role in the club’s historic Premier League title win, defying the 5,000-to-1 odds. He also helped the team win their first-ever FA Cup in 2021.

He is the club’s all-time leading goalscorer in the Premier League history and has scored 198 goals for the team so far.

Although Leicester City faced relegation this season, Jamie Vardy’s passion for the game hasn’t faded. He made it clear this is not retirement, saying, “I still want to play. I love scoring goals and competing. Football is in my blood.”

In a video message, posted by the club on their social media, Vardy expressed his sadness about leaving the club, saying, “To the fans of Leicester, I’m gutted that this day is coming, but I knew it was going to come eventually.”

The 38-year-old went on to share, “I’ve spent 13 unbelievable years at this club, with lots of success, and some downs, but the majority have all been highs.”

“It’s finally time to call it a day, which I’m devastated about it, but I think the timing it right. Leicester will always, always have a massive place in my heart,” Vardy added.

Leicester City’s chairman, Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, called Jamie Vardy “a true legend” and thanked him for his loyalty and dedication over the years.

Jamie Vardy’s last home game at King Power Stadium will be against Ipswich Town on May 18. Fans are expected to pack the stadium to show their love and appreciation for a player who gave everything to the club.

As Jamie Vardy prepares for his next chapter, football fans everywhere will remember the incredible story of a non-league player who rose to the top and helped make football history with Leicester City.
