WEBDESK: A famous US company is making a major move. Apple to shift iPhone production from China to India by the end of 2026, according to a new report from the Financial Times. This decision marks a turning point for the tech giant as it works to reduce its heavy dependence on Chinese manufacturing.

Sources say Apple plans to produce over 60 million iPhones each year in India, specifically for the US market. To reach this ambitious goal, Apple will need to double its current iPhone output from India in just over a year.

The move comes as trade tensions between the US and China continue to grow. Recently, former US President Donald Trump imposed a steep 145 per cent tariff on Chinese goods. In response, China placed a 125 per cent tariff on US imports. While electronics were initially spared, Trump warned this could change at any time. These developments have made investors nervous. Apple’s stock has taken a hit, with the company losing nearly $700 billion in market value. The risk of supply chain disruptions in China has become a major concern.

For years, Apple has relied on Chinese manufacturing partners like Foxconn. But rising civil unrest and strict government controls in China have caused production delays. In response, Apple to shift iPhone production to India is seen as a way to secure its supply chain and keep up with global demand.

Apple is now strengthening its partnerships in India, especially with Tata Electronics and Foxconn, both of which already operate large iPhone assembly plants in the country. Just last month, Apple fast-tracked iPhone shipments from India to the US, showing how quickly the shift is happening.

Although China will still play a role in Apple’s global production, the decision for Apple to shift iPhone production entirely for the US market to India is a clear sign of strategic change. It’s part of Apple’s broader plan to diversify where it makes its products and reduce risk from political tensions.
