1 May holiday on account of Labour Day has been announced by the Sindh government. This means all schools, colleges, and universities across Sindh will remain closed on Thursday.

The holiday was notified by the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department. As per the notification dated April 25, all public and semi-public offices in the province will remain closed on May 1.

The holiday falls in the middle of the week, providing a much-needed break, especially for school students, from their hectic schedules before the exam season. The summer holidays in Pakistan are also expected to start earlier this year due to an extreme heatwave forecast.

May 1 has also been listed as a public holiday in the 2025 holiday schedule issued by the Cabinet Division.

Labour Day Holiday Pakistan

The holiday has been announced by the Sindh government. The provincial governments of other provinces are expected to announce holidays separately. Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have not yet announced a public holiday in Pakistan.

The federal government is also expected to issue a notification regarding the holiday in Pakistan.

Labour day, is also knows as May Day. This day is ovserved to renew pledge for protecting rights of workers around the world.

May Day is an appreciation of the working classes promoted by the international labour movement and is celebrated on the first of May in many countries including Pakistan.
