Gold prices in Pakistan on Wednesday witnessed a sharp decline after falling by Rs11,700 per tola following a record high in the past weeks across local and international markets.
The gold prices in Pakistan on Tuesday settled at Rs352,000 per tola across local markets. Furthermore, 10 grams of gold decreased by Rs10,031, settling at Rs301,783.
Meanwhile, the gold prices in international markets also dropped by $116 per ounce to settle at $3,338 on Wednesday.
It merits a mention that prices of gold surged to record high with rates reach more than Rs70,000 per tola in just one month.
Experts have suggested the global geo-economic instability caused by US President Trump’s policies. Rising tariffs wars between USA and China and Trump’s lashing out at Jerome Powell, the head of Federal Reserve of the United States has also caused significant volatility of markets.

The Punjab Assembly has approved the “Punjab Thalassemia Prevention Act 2025,” which will require all educational institutions in Punjab to make thalassemia testing mandatory during admission process. Under the new legislation, the Punjab government will constitute an advisory council which will be responsible for screening and reviewing test results.
The students will be required to submit their thalassemia test reports to their educational institutions along with their admission forms. The admission forms will be sent to the students’ relevant boards.
