WEBDESK: US President Donald Trump, on Monday, has strongly warned Iran to stop trying to develop nuclear weapons, saying that failure to do so could result in a tough response, including potential military action on Tehran’s atomic facilities. His warning came as discussions continue between the United States and Iran to ease tensions and possibly reach a new agreement on Iran’s nuclear program.

“I think they’re tapping us along,” Trump told reporters after U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff met in Oman on Saturday with a senior Iranian official.

During a recent statement, Donald Trump said that Iran is getting “fairly close” to having a nuclear weapon and stressed that this was not acceptable. He added that Iran must “give up on the dream” of becoming a nuclear power or face serious consequences. According to Trump, if diplomatic talks fail, military options are still available to prevent Iran from advancing its nuclear ambitions.

“Iran has to get rid of the concept of a nuclear weapon. They cannot have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said.

This comes after a high-level meeting in Oman where the U.S. special envoy, Steve Witkoff, met with a senior Iranian official. Reports say the talks were “positive,” and more meetings are expected in Rome soon. These meetings aim to find a peaceful solution and potentially create a new agreement to replace the 2015 nuclear deal from Barack Obama’s term that the U.S. left in 2018.

Donald Trump criticized Iran for delaying negotiations and called for a more serious approach. He also assured that the U.S. will not allow Iran to threaten global peace through nuclear power.
