PM Shehbaz announces civil awards for top overseas Pakistani investors

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday lauded the contributions of overseas Pakistanis, calling them “true ambassadors” of the country and announcing civil awards for those who invest significantly in Pakistan.

According to Express News, the premier chaired a high-level meeting on matters related to overseas Pakistanis. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, federal ministers, and senior officials.

Speaking during the session, Prime Minister Shehbaz said that overseas Pakistanis have played a remarkable role in building Pakistan’s image abroad. He appreciated their contributions and acknowledged their sacrifices, passion, and unwavering love for the homeland.

Highlighting the recent Overseas Pakistanis Convention, the prime minister said the large turnout reflected the community’s trust in the government’s policies. “Overseas Pakistanis have earned respect across the world through hard work and dedication,” he said, adding that they have excelled in fields such as medicine, education, engineering, and consultancy.

Shehbaz Sharif announced that the government had recently introduced a comprehensive package to honour overseas Pakistanis. He said civil awards would be conferred on individuals who have demonstrated excellence in various fields abroad and on those who have sent the highest remittances to Pakistan through the State Bank.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to resolving issues faced by overseas Pakistanis on a priority basis and providing them with more facilities. He also announced that Pakistan would offer investment opportunities tailored to the professional skills and expertise of overseas Pakistanis.

The meeting was briefed on the progress and strategic roadmap for the facilities announced for overseas Pakistanis.
