Pakistan Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert on Tuesday for heavy rainfall and windstorm in Lahore.
DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia has directed deputy commissioners and rescue agencies across the province to remain alert.
“Relevant departments should be on alert to deal with the emergency. The provincial control room, including the district emergency operation centers of all districts, has also been put on alert. The situation is being monitored 24/7 in the PDMA control room,” stated the DG PDMA.
Last week, a heavy windstorm engulfed the city of Lahore, which made the bright sky completely dark. A powerful windstorm in Lahore led to the obstruction of normal life, causing major problems for the citizens.
Violent thunderstorms and torrential thunderstorms occurred in Punjab, leading to the deaths of around 20 people and injuring more than 100 people.
Experts have warned that the violent and sudden changes in weather are one of the manifestations of climate change in Pakistan.

The Lahore dust storm was part of this larger weather system affecting upper parts of the country, including Rawalpindi, Murree, and Peshawar. More rain and storms are expected in the next 24 hours.
