FO rejects Indian attempts to link Pahalgam attack to Pakistan
Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) has condemned India’s actions in the wake of recent tensions, accusing the country of “irresponsible” and “belligerent” conduct that violates international norms. A spokesperson for the FO emphasized that global calls for restraint, including from international bodies such as the United Nations (UN) and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), have been ignored by India over the past two weeks.
“It is highly deplorable that India did not pay heed to these calls,” said the spokesperson at a press briefing. “The international community should hold India accountable for its irresponsible, unlawful, and belligerent conduct.”
The remarks follow accusations made by India’s foreign secretary against Pakistan, particularly regarding the recent Pahalgam attack. Pakistan’s Foreign Office swiftly rejected these allegations, with Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan labeling them as “totally absurd.” Khan further asserted that India has failed to produce any credible evidence connecting Pakistan to the attack.
“Till date, India has not been able to produce any credible evidence to support that claim,” Ambassador Khan stated. “In fact, it is India that has escalated the situation by violating Pakistan’s sovereignty and killing civilians.”
Khan also reiterated that India’s attempts to link Pakistan to the Pahalgam attack are part of a broader strategy to propagate a false narrative of victimhood. He warned that such rhetoric could destabilize regional peace and further escalate tensions in South Asia. “The Indian leadership has once again used the bogey of terrorism to advance its sham narrative,” he said.
The Foreign Office spokesperson highlighted the importance of regional cooperation and peace, stressing that South Asia is home to several countries that cannot afford reckless actions from any one nation. Pakistan, he said, remains committed to maintaining peace in the region and called for the international community to hold India responsible for its actions.
