Police Officers martyred in Peshawar blast

Police officers were targeted in Peshawar Blast, as a result at least two cops including a sub-inspector (SI) were martyred.

SI Laiq Zada Khan and one constable lost their lives.

According to reports, the suspected suicide blast occurred near a police mobile van.

Many officers got injured.

According to Peshawar CCPO, police teams collected evidence from the blast site and launched an investigation to determine the nature and motive behind the incident.

Rescue ambulances quickly reached the scene following the explosion. A rescue spokesperson confirmed that two people were injured in the blast.

According to Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), Pakistan has witnessed a sharp increase in terror attacks in January 2025, surging by 42 per cent compared December.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) remained the worst-affected province, followed by Balochistan. In KP’s settled districts, militants carried out 27 attacks, resulting in 19 fatalities, including 11 security personnel, six civilians, and two militants.

Mohsin Naqvi about Peshawar Blast

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the suicide blast, offering tribute to the martyred police officers and expressing heartfelt sympathy and condolences to their families.

He stated that the police officers achieved the highest honour of martyrdom while performing their duties. He praised the KP Police for their unmatched sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

He further emphasised that the sacrifices of KP Police officers would always be remembered, and expressed solidarity with the grieving families of the martyrs.

The provincial governor and CM also condemned the blast, paying tribute to the fallen police officers and extending condolences to their families.
