“Pakistan is deeply concerned about the growing Islamophobia in India, where Muslims are being systematically targeted through hate speech and social exclusion,” the Foreign Office Spokesperson said.
The office expressed deep concern over the rise in hate crimes and Islamophobia, pointing out that Hindu nationalist groups have targeted Muslim religious sites like the Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi and the Shahi Eidgah Mosque in Mathura.
The statement urged India to protect the rights and safety of its Muslim population and to respect their places of worship. The Pakistan Foreign Office also appealed to the international community to pay attention to the situation and hold India accountable for the treatment of minorities.
The statement also highlighted the need for India to fulfil its constitutional obligation of protecting the rights of all citizens, regardless of their religious identity.
“In the current circumstances, there is an urgent need for reconciliation, inclusivity, and the promotion of tolerance to prevent further alienation of Muslim communities in India,” the spokesperson said.
The Foreign Office called on India to abandon divisive policies and uphold democratic values to foster peaceful coexistence in the region.
Highlighting the importance of religious freedom, the Pakistan Foreign Office warned that continued discrimination could lead to more instability in the region. It emphasized that ensuring the safety and security of all citizens, regardless of faith, is a key responsibility of any government.
