WEBDESK: The Islamabad weather forecast shows more rain and thunderstorms are on the way this week, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). Islamabad and nearby areas like Rawalpindi, Murree, and parts of northeastern Punjab are expected to see more showers and cloudy skies.
According to the Met office, rain is also expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum. The weather department says parts of Mianwali, Khushab, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, and Gujrat may also receive showers.
The PMD has also predicted rainfall in cities such as Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Sheikhupura, and Lahore. People living in these areas are advised to stay alert as heavy rain could lead to waterlogging in low-lying zones.
The Islamabad weather pattern is part of a larger system bringing seasonal rains to upper Pakistan. Rain is also likely in areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kohistan, and Swat. In the northern region of Gilgit-Baltistan, rain and thunderstorms are expected as well.
The PMD says these Islamabad weather showers will help bring down the rising temperatures in northern cities, but it also warns of potential lightning and strong winds. People are encouraged to follow local updates and avoid unnecessary travel during stormy conditions.
Meanwhile, most districts of Balochistan and Sindh, including Karachi, are expected to remain hot and dry.
According to the Met Office, temperatures in Karachi may rise up to 39°C during the day, while humidity levels are likely to hover between 60 to 70 percent. The PMD has not predicted any rain for the southern city in the near future. This contrast between the Islamabad weather and Karachi’s heat highlights the difference in climate patterns between the country’s north and south.
High humidity will make the heat feel more intense, experts warned.
Winds are expected to blow from the west to southwest, offering little relief from the sweltering conditions.
