Peshawar Zalmi has picked Australia’s Mitchell Owen ahead of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which is set to start in April.

“Supplementary draft pick. All-Rounder Mitchell Owen joins the Zalmi squad for [PSL 10],” the franchise announced in an Instagram post accompanied by an animated poster of the Australian batter.

Corbin Bosch is not in Peshawar Zalmi anymore

The development came just days after South Africa all-rounder Corbin Bosch, who was picked in the diamond category by Peshawar Zalmi, breached his PSL contract to join Mumbai Indians’ squad for the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), as a result, served a legal notice to the South African all-rounder and has been asked to justify his actions of withdrawing from his professional and contractual commitments.

There’s speculation that Owen might open alongside Babar Azam, a role currently held by Saim Ayub. However, no official confirmation has been made, and Saim remains part of the squad of Peshawar Zalmi.

Earlier, the young cricketer was ruled out of the Champions Trophy due to an ankle injury. Reports suggest the injury is quite serious, which is why he has not been seen in the tournament. He is currently in England for treatment, and his potential comeback in the PSL will depend on a medical review of his condition.

Islamabad United will play against Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in the opening match of PSL.
