Gunmen kill 7 passengers taken from bus in Balochistan’s Barkhan

QUETTA: Gunmen in Balochistan killed at least 7 people after being taken from a passenger bus in Barkhan area of Balochistan, media cited Levies sources reported.

The incident took place on the national highway in Barkhan area connecting Rakhni with Dera Ghazi Khan.  Up to 12 armed assailants intercepted and stopped the passenger bus going from Quetta to Faisalabad, identified seven passengers brought them down and shot them.

The reports say that the armed assailants had set up a checkpoint on the highway. They stopped the bus travelling from Quetta to Punjab and identified seven passengers before abducting them. Later, all seven were killed.

Narrating the situation, the bus driver said the gunmen specifically selected seven passengers hailing from Punjab during identification taking them to an undisclosed location before killing them.  

Assistant Commissioner Barkhan Khadim Hussain confirmed the incident, saying all seven passengers were from different areas of Punjab.

The dead bodies of the passengers were shifted to Rakhni Hospital for legal medical formalities.

Levies and FC have cordoned off the area after the incident and started search operations to chase the attackers.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
