Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has instructed authorities to ensure the immediate payment of dues to government hospitals and to take swift action to provide free medicines to patients.

These directives were issued during a special meeting she chaired to assess the administrative affairs of Mayo Hospital.

The Chief Minister also stressed the need for transparency, calling for the display of a complete list of available medicines in all government hospitals. She further instructed the installation of electronic boards to make this information easily accessible.

In addition, she ordered the activation and promotion of the ‘Maryam Nawaz Complaint Counters’ to assist patients in voicing their concerns, and recommended the installation of mist fans in open waiting areas to provide comfort for those waiting.

To ensure the quality of services, CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed that patient feedback be collected through follow-up calls. She also urged the provision of chairs and benches in waiting areas. Relevant officials were instructed to conduct daily visits to hospitals and prepare comprehensive reports.

The reports, which will be compiled by multiple organisations, will cover key areas such as doctor and staff attendance, availability of free medicines, lab tests, and the condition of biomedical equipment.

The Chief Minister further stressed the importance of monitoring waiting lists for surgeries and tests in public hospitals. She also highlighted the need for regular checks on the availability of parking, cafeteria facilities, and wheelchairs for patients.
