Azan Ali Khan wins Australian Junior Squash Championship

WEBDESK: Azan Ali Khan has brought international recognition to Pakistan by winning the Australian Junior Squash Championship 2025 on April 17th at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. The young Pakistani squash player defeated his Australian counter-part in the final, dedicating his victory to all of Pakistan.

The tournament was held from April 13 to 17 at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre in Melbourne, Australia, with participation from 64 players representing 11 countries.

Matches were held in age groups of Under 11, 13, 15, 17, and 19, across both male and female categories. This year, players from six different countries won titles in ten different categories.

In his victory speech, Azan Ali Khan said, “This win is for my homeland Pakistan, especially for out-of-school children and all the dreamers who work hard despite a lack of resources. Pakistani children are second to none; they just need some guidance and support.”

The Prime Minister’s Youth Programme and Muslim Hands supported Azan Ali Khan throughout with training, travel, and participation in international competitions.

Azan Ali Khan previously won the Scottish Junior Open Squash Championship and delivered an impressive performance in the Birmingham Junior Squash Championship.

On this occasion, Syed Javed Gilani, Executive Director of Muslim Hands, stated, “We want to brighten the future of Pakistani children through sports. Muslim Hands has always been at the forefront in providing opportunities to children through education, sports, and training.”

Azan Ali Khan’s younger brother, Faizan Ali Khan, also from Pakistan Army, participated in the event, contributing to a strong showing by the Pakistani Contingent.

This impressive victory follows Noor Zaman’s excellent performance in the U23 Squash World Championship where he defeated Egypt’s Karim El Turky in a thrilling five-set match to win the trophy for Pakistan.
