On the 27th anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer, the Armed Forces of Pakistan, along with the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Services Chiefs, have extended heartfelt felicitations to the people of Pakistan, commemorating the historic day when the country emerged as a nuclear power.

Youm-e-Takbeer marks the landmark nuclear tests conducted on May 28, 1998, which not only restored the strategic balance in South Asia but also signified Pakistan’s sovereign right to self-defence. The day is seen as a symbol of national resolve, unity, and the pursuit of a dignified and peaceful existence.

In a statement issued by the military’s media wing, the Armed Forces paid tribute to the visionary leadership, brilliant scientists, and dedicated engineers whose contributions made the country’s defence unassailable. The strategic capability, it said, is a “national trust” that reflects the collective aspirations of the Pakistani people.

“This day underscores Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to preserving its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the statement read, reaffirming the country’s adherence to the doctrine of credible minimum deterrence aimed at maintaining regional peace and strategic stability.

The Armed Forces reiterated their unflinching resolve to defend the motherland across the full spectrum of conflict and stressed that Pakistan’s nuclear capability remains solely for defensive purposes. “It stands as a guarantor of peace,” the statement added.

The message called on all Pakistanis to renew their collective pledge to remain vigilant, united, and resolute in the face of future challenges, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to security, progress, and prosperity.

The Armed Forces concluded by standing in solidarity with the nation, honouring the sacrifices that made Pakistan’s nuclear milestone possible and pledging to continue the journey toward strength, stability, and self-reliance.
