All NADRA offices to remain closed on Yome Takbeer

WEBDESK: The Government of Pakistan has announced that all public offices and courts will remain closed on May 28, 2025, in observance of Yome Takbeer, a national holiday commemorating Pakistan’s nuclear tests conducted in 1998.

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has also confirmed that all its offices across Pakistan will be closed on May 28, 2025, in observance of Yome Takbeer. Their offices, as well as those open overnight, will be closed from the evening of the 27th until the evening on May 29 according to each office’s closing times.

Since physical offices are closed, NADRA has announced that all its digital services will stay fully available. The Pak-ID mobile app and NADRA’s website are available for citizens to use for their services.

Yome Takbeer

Yome Takbeer celebrates the anniversary of Pakistan’s nuclear tests conducted in Balochistan’s Chagai district in 1998. These tests gave Pakistan the standing of the seventh nuclear nation around the world and the first among Muslim-majority countries.

Under the leadership of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the tests were carried out as envisioned by former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto The day is observed as a symbol of national pride and a commitment to sovereignty.

Public and private institutions across the country often mark Yome Takbeer with special events, tributes, and discussions highlighting the significance of a strong national defense. Schools, colleges, and government offices usually remain closed on this day as well.

Previously, the provincial government in Sindh made it a public holiday on May 28. All government and private offices in Sindh will be closed today.
The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) will not conduct any trading transactions on this day. The holiday is now considered a gazetted public holiday in all regions of the nation.

Youm-e-Takbeer reminds everyone in Pakistan about how much they value their freedom and safety. Events and ceremonies will taking place nationwide to commemorate the scientists and soldiers who played a role in the victory.
