WEBDESK: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued an important weather update for people across the country, on Tuesday, from May 27 to June 1, many areas in Pakistan are expected to face heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds.
According to this weather update, the rainstorm will affect several regions including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. These areas could see strong winds and heavy downpours, which may lead to flash floods or other weather-related issues.
According to the PMD weather update, a strong western weather system is expected to affect large parts of the country from May 27 to June 1, 2025, bringing widespread rain, thunderstorms, gusty winds, and chances of hail.
In response, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has alerted provincial and district administrations to stay prepared. The NDMA’s National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) issued a weather advisory urging authorities to coordinate with local rescue teams for swift response.
In the Islamabad and Rawalpindi weather update, the PMD warns of intense thunderstorms and strong winds. People living in these cities are advised to stay indoors during bad weather and avoid unnecessary travel, especially in areas that are prone to flooding or landslides.
Heavy rain and severe weather are expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal, Okara, and Kasur.
Southern Punjab may see moderate rainfall and gusty winds in Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Bhakkar, and Muzaffargarh from May 27 to 29.
Meanwhile, Sindh is likely to remain under hot and dry conditions, with no major rainfall expected between May 27 and 29.
The NDMA has advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel in hilly and flood-prone areas, secure weak structures, trees, power lines, and solar panels and park vehicles in safe, covered places.
