WEBDESK: Pakistani cricketer Sahibzada Farhan has made headlines by achieving a historic milestone in the National T20 Cup after his explosive 148 run innings against Abbotabad Falcons. The talented batter scored his second massive century on 26th March in the National T20 Cup semi-final within a week, making him the first player to achieve two 130-plus scores in a single T20 tournament.
In the semi-final against Abbottabad Region, Sahibzada Farhan played a stunning knock of 148 runs off just 72 balls. This incredible performance came just days after his explosive 162-run innings against Quetta Region. His previous knock had already been recognised as the joint third-highest individual score in men’s T20 history.
With these consecutive centuries, Sahibzada Farhan has amassed 588 runs in just six innings, breaking his own record from the previous season, where he had scored 492 runs. Despite his remarkable performances in domestic cricket, he has yet to secure a contract in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) this season.
Farhan also occupies the top two spots in terms of most sixes hit in a single edition of the National T20 Cup, having hit 39 this season already.
Farhan now has three centuries in his last six innings, all coming in this tournament. He is just the fifth player to make three or more hundreds in a T20 tournament. Jos Buttler and Virat Kohli are the only ones to have made four. Kohli, Buttler, and the two others on this list batted at least 12 times though, as compared to Farhan’s six.
Sahibzada Farhan to get an international recall?
Farhan, who has represented Pakistan in nine T20 internationals, has struggled at the international level, with an average of just 9.5 and a strike rate of 95.5. His last appearance for the national team was in December of the previous year. However, his recent performances have sparked discussions about whether he deserves another chance in Pakistan’s T20 squad.
Cricket fans and analysts are now questioning why a player of his caliber has been overlooked for major leagues like the PSL. His ability to dominate domestic tournaments proves his potential, and many believe that his consistent performances could earn him a recall to the national team.
With the National T20 Cup nearing its conclusion, all eyes remain on Sahibzada Farhan to see if he can continue his outstanding form and push for a place in higher-level cricket.
