ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed on Thursday the federal government’s commitment to balanced development across all regions of Pakistan while speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad for the groundbreaking of the Jinnah Square Murree Road Underpass.
The Prime Minister emphasized how provincial development stems directly from national strength and advancement of Pakistan. This year Balochistan received special attention through substantial development funds from the government.
One of the major initiatives is the dualisation of the N-25 Highway in Balochistan, which Shehbaz Sharif said will be completed within two years. He stressed that this project reflects the government’s dedication to improving infrastructure in underdeveloped regions, using national resources for the benefit of all.
Speaking about Islamabad, the Prime Minister appreciated the recent efforts to enhance the city’s beauty and infrastructure. He encouraged local authorities to continue working in this direction, noting that projects like the Jinnah Square Murree Road Underpass are key to making the capital more efficient and livable.
During the early part of the ceremony Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi shared basic features about the underpass project. During the ceremony he declared that the Jinnah Square Murree Road Underpass construction will finish operations in exactly 35 days. The minister emphasized that cutting down traffic congestion stands at the forefront of their priorities while multiple city chokepoints receive attention.
Naqvi also mentioned that the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has created a new parking plan to handle the growing number of vehicles in commercial areas. Construction of a new parking plaza in the Blue Area is already underway.
The Jinnah Square Murree Road Underpass is expected to ease traffic flow, reduce delays, and contribute to the overall modernization of Islamabad’s infrastructure. The project marks another step in the government’s efforts to improve urban mobility and create more efficient public spaces.
