The National Security Committee (NSC), meeting chaired by Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif, with the attendance of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir and other top civil and military leaders, took place at the PM House in Islamabad.
It was decided in the meeting to close the Wagah border, shut down airspace to Indian airlines, and suspend all trade ties.
Pakistan has also cancelled all visas issued under the Indian SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES). However, visas for Sikh pilgrims have not been cancelled.
India’s defence, air, and naval advisors have been declared ‘persona non grata’ and have been ordered to leave Pakistan. It was deicded int he meeting to reduce rhe staff of the Indian High Commission in Pakistan to 30 members.

“Pakistan will not compromise on its sovereignty, security, or dignity,” the partcipants of the meeting said.
India Suspends Indus Waters Treaty
India on Wednesday suspended the Indus Waters Treaty that had existed for more than six decades between India and Pakistan. India took this decision in response of Pahalgam attack on April 22, 2025.
The Indian government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the formal Pakistan accusations followed by multiple counter measures on April 23.
Cabinet Committee on Security meeting chaired by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a set of coercive measures against Pakistan. The new defensive measures include suspending the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty, blocking the Attari-Wagah border checkpoint and banning Pakistan-based individuals from using the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) for travel. The measures force Pakistani nationals currently in India to depart within 48 hours.
India took two diplomatic measures against Pakistan also by expelling the Defence, Naval, and Air Advisors from its New Delhi High Commission while cutting both country’s High Commission staff strength to 30 representatives starting May 1, 2025.
