Pakistan’s disaster management authority has issued a weather advisory warning of a mix of intense heat and unstable weather across the country between June 13 and 18.

According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), a weak western disturbance is expected to affect the northern parts of the country from June 13 to 16, potentially bringing rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds to some areas.

The National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) has warned that southern provinces, including Sindh and Balochistan, will remain under severe heat conditions throughout the period. Authorities have urged residents in heat-affected zones to take precautionary steps to avoid heatstroke and dehydration.

In Punjab, most areas will continue to experience hot and dry weather, although Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and the Potohar region could see isolated showers and windstorms during the affected days.

Several districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Swat, Mansehra, Chitral, and Kohat, may witness scattered rain and thunderstorms, while temperatures in most other areas will remain elevated.

Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir will also see generally hot weather, but isolated rainfall is likely in regions such as Skardu, Hunza, Shigar, Bagh, Neelum, and Astore.

The NDMA said it is coordinating with provincial and district administrations to monitor developments and ensure preparedness. People are advised to stay indoors during the hottest hours between 11:00am and 4:00pm, wear light clothing, stay hydrated, and regularly check on children, the elderly, and those with medical conditions.

Authorities also cautioned against leaving children or pets unattended in parked vehicles, as internal temperatures can quickly become life-threatening.
