WEBDESK: Lahore Blues secured a dominant victory against Peshawar in the final of the National T20 Cup, winning by nine wickets at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium. The much-anticipated clash saw Lahore Blues deliver a clinical performance with both bat and ball.

Peshawar, batting first, struggled to build momentum and managed to post only 110-9 in their allotted 20 overs. Mohammad Zulkifal contributed 32 runs, while captain Iftikhar Ahmed added 34. However, the Lahore bowling attack, led by Salman Mirza, kept Peshawar under pressure throughout. Mirza was the standout performer, claiming four wickets for just 21 runs.

Chasing a modest target, Lahore Blues made light work of the run chase. Lahore fans witnessed an impressive batting display by opener Umar Siddiq, who remained unbeaten with a well-crafted 64 off 46 balls. Junaid Ali also played a steady knock, scoring 30 not out, as the team reached the target in just 16 overs with nine wickets in hand.

This victory cements Lahore Blues’ position as one of the strongest teams in the tournament. Their all-round performance in the final demonstrated excellent teamwork and execution under pressure. On the other hand, Peshawar will have to reflect on their performance and strategise better for future competitions.

Lahore pocketed winners prize of PKR five millions out of the 9.4 million PKR prize pot, while the runners up Peshawar got PKR 2.5 million.
