WEBDESK: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has, on Friday, officially announced the schedule for Islamabad summer vacations. All schools operating under the FDE will remain closed from June 5 to August 1, 2025, providing students and staff a much-needed break during the peak heat of the season.
According to the notification issued by the FDE, Islamabad summer vacations will apply to both public and private educational institutions in the capital city. Regular classes will resume on Monday, August 4, 2025.
In the lead-up to the Islamabad summer vacations, new school timings have also been introduced. Starting from May 26, 2025, single-shift schools will operate from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM. These revised timings aim to protect students and staff from the rising summer temperatures during the last week of classes.
Heads of double-shift schools have been instructed to adjust the evening timings accordingly to ensure the safety and comfort of all students and teachers.
The announcement of Islamabad summer vacations has been met with relief from parents and students alike, who were eagerly awaiting confirmation of the holiday period. As temperatures continue to soar in the capital, the vacation period is seen as essential for the well-being of children.
Punjab, Sindh summer vacations
Meanwhile the Punjab government has announced that all public and private schools across the province will start summer vacations from May 28 to August 14, in view of the ongoing heatwave.
The decision was approved by Punjab Chief Minister after consultations with the School Education Department and other concerned authorities. A formal notification has also been issued.
According to the notification issued by the Sindh Education Department, summer holidays 2025 will begin on June 1 and continue until July 31, 2025.
All schools and colleges, whether managed by the government or privately, will follow this schedule.The announcement aims to give students and teachers a much-needed break during the hottest months of the year.
