WEBDESK: In an important update for students, the intermediate exams postponed announcement has been officially made by the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK). Originally scheduled to begin on April 28, the exams will now start from May 5.

There were two main reasons for the intermediate exams being postponed.

First, the process of awarding grace marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics for first-year students is still ongoing. Second, many exam centres are currently being used for matriculation exams, which will continue until May 8.

Officials said the overlap necessitated adjustments to maintain the exam system’s organisation and ensure centre availability.

The BIEK has urged all students and educational institutions to follow the new schedule closely. Students are advised to stay updated through the Board’s official website and social media pages for any further changes regarding the Intermediate exams postponed.

BIEK stated that any further updates or changes would be communicated through its official website (www.biek.edu.pk) and its verified social media pages on Facebook and Instagram.

The move to have the intermediate exams postponed is also linked to the Sindh government’s decision to grant grace marks. First-year Pre-Medical and Pre-Engineering students will now receive 20% extra marks in Chemistry and 15% in both Physics and Mathematics. BIEK has already started working on implementing these changes.

The notification, signed by Sharifuddin, Section Officer for Boards in the Department of Universities and Boards, directs the Chairman of the Intermediate Board Karachi to proceed with the necessary arrangements to apply the cabinet’s decision.
