FAISALABAD: Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr Usman Anwar on Friday visited the gang-rape victim in Faisalabad, assuring the victim and her family of swift justice.
The senior police official assured the family of the sexual assault victim in Faisalabad that strict legal action would be taken against the criminals.
On March 25, Adnan Masih and his wife were travelling on a bike towards their home when they were stopped by armed men near Motorway Bridge 62-JB Channan, Faisalabad.
In the FIR available with Azaad English, the husband narrated the harrowing incident when the suspects robbed the victims at gunpoint, taking away petty cash, and mobiles.
Adnan Masih stated that he was tied up by the two criminals as they took his wife in nearby field where “one by one, they raped my wife.”
The incident drew strong condemnations from across the country, particularly on social media, with many highlighting the increasing assaults against women.
The case was registered under FIR No. 339/25 in the Sandal Bar Police Station and one suspect has been arrested.
In the FIR available with Azaad English, there were three accused who raped the woman on gunpoint.
Chief Minster Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif also took notice of the horrible incident calling for speedy justice for the victim.
Under her direct supervision, law enforcement authorities apprehended the main accused, Ali Sher, within hours, while efforts are underway to capture his accomplices.
She also directed law enforcement agencies to ensure the strictest punishment for the culprits, sending a strong message that crimes against women will not be tolerated in Punjab.
“We will implement effective measures to curb these crimes and provide a safe environment for women,” she asserted.
