In a worrying development, the health crises in Taunsa District continues to worsen as another child has tested positive for the virus, increasing the number of HIV positive children patients to 107.
According to the hospital administration, children are continuously being screened by the health officials.
A screening and treatment center had been set up at the THQ to facilitate early detection and treatment of the disease earlier this week.
Medical experts have revealed that the outbreak of AIDS transmission is primarily due to the reuse of syringes. The health department have reached Taunsa to oversee action against quacks in the region.
The district administration had also urged the public to quickly report unauthorised clinics and those quacks who reuse syringes.
It has been revealed that 107 children have been confirmed to be infected with the HIV virus in the past three months.
The ages of the affected children range from six months to ten years. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken notice of the dangerous health crises in the province.
A joint mission comprising representatives from UNICEF, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Health and Population Department has been established.
The CM has ordered comprehensive medical screenings in the affected areas to stop the spread of virus.
The CM also instructed the authorities to identify the people responsible for this horrible crises, vowing that there would be zero tolerance for those who endangered children’ lives.
