KARACHI: Four young men lost their lives in a tragic accident on Monday night when their car plunged into the Naseer Canal in Tando Allahyar, Sindh.
The victims, all residents of Karachi, were traveling from the city to Mirpurkhas when the car reportedly went out of control and fell into the canal in Tando Allahyar. Police believe speeding may have caused the accident.
The deceased have been identified as Abdul Ahad Sheikh (age 23), Sameer (age 21), Ali Shan (age 26), and Adeel (age 20). They were all from different parts of Pakistan, with some originally from Mirpurkhas and Sialkot, but currently living in Karachi.
Local residents tried to rescue the friends but were unable to reach them in time. Divers were later called in to recover their bodies. After being retrieved, the bodies were sent to Karachi.
The incident has sparked widespread attention, with many on social media discussing the accident. According to a police spokesperson, the bridge over the canal had a design flaw, while the road leading up to it was a dual carriageway, the bridge itself was single-lane, which may have contributed to the crash.
The victims had shared a video on social media before the accident, and their friends and families are mourning their untimely deaths.
