WEBDESK: Reckless driving and overspeeding led to multiple traffic accidents across Pakistan during Eid-ul-Fitr, resulting in 26 deaths and several injuries.
Late at night, in Sargodha, a speeding rickshaw collided with a motorcycle on Salana Wali Road, killing an 8-year-old girl and another person while injuring five others. The victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.
In Lahore, two young men lost their lives when their motorcycle crashed into a pole near Jinnah Underpass.
In Tando Allahyar, Sindh, a speeding car fell into a canal, leading to the drowning deaths of four individuals. In Renala Khurd, in another one of the traffic accidents, a collision between a car and a motorcycle resulted in the deaths of three people, including two women.
A tragic accident in Qambar Shahdadkot involved two motorcycles colliding, claiming the lives of a mother and daughter. Meanwhile, in Mirpur Sakro and Hafizabad, motorcycle crashes resulted in eight fatalities.
In Gujranwala, near Kot Bilal, Kamoke, two policemen lost their lives, and two others were injured when their speeding motorcycle crashed into a donkey cart.
In Kabirwala, Khanewal, three individuals died on the spot in a traffic accident near Makhdoom Pur Interchange.
In Islamabad, a Toyota HiAce van collided with a car, leaving one person dead and seven injured, including a six-month-old baby. All injured were shifted to a hospital for medical care.
In Haripur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, three separate traffic accidents resulted in injuries to nine people.
Authorities have urged drivers to follow traffic rules to avoid further tragedies.
