Changpeng Zhao, Binance’s billionaire founder has joined Pakistan Crypto Council as a strategic adviser.
He was appointed on Monday by the Finance Division.
The Chinese-Canadian founder also held meeting with Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif.
After the appointment, he said, “The potential here is limitless”, noting that “Pakistan is a country of 240 million people, over 60 per cent of whom are under the age of 30.”

Zhao founded Binance in 2017 and owns an estimated 90 per cent of the exchange plus a stash of its BNB tokens.
In November 2023, the billionaire stepped down as Binance’s CEO. He lives in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan ranked third in the Global Crypto Adoption Index, has 20 million active cryptocurrency users and $20 billion+ in crypto transactions.
Last month, the government appointed entrepreneur Bilal Bin Saqib as the chief adviser to the Finance Minister on the Pakistan Crypto Council.
The finance ministry was of the view that Saqib’s appointment is a critical achievement in Pakistan’s efforts to become a regional leader in the cryptocurrency space and ensure that the country is prepared to handle the regulatory, economic, and security challenges posed by this emerging sector.
