After Islamabad, intense hailstorm in KP brings destruction

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s different districts, including Peshawar, has witnessed intense rainfall along with hailstorms in isolated areas on Friday.

On April 16, a sudden and intense hailstorm battered Islamabad as many cars got severely damaged, trees became uprooted and windowpanes of many houses got broken.

Following the hailstorm in Islamabad, heavy hailstorm has again broken windows of many vehicles in KP district.

According to media reports, heavy rain and hail are being experienced in some areas of Khyber district along with strong winds. Due to heavy hail in Bara, Jamrud and Landi Kotal areas of Khyber district, the windows of vehicles have been broken.

Since many homes have dedicated solar systems installed, multiple people reported their solar panels damaged due to hailstorm in KP areas.

In Torkham area, the intense hailstorm battered the cars of many citizens. It should be noted that a severe weather alert has been issued in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa until April 20, heavy rain and hail have been predicted in different areas.

The latest weather update from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) warns of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and possible hailstorms across many parts of Pakistan today and tomorrow.

According to details, a severe weather warning has been issued by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) for Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and several areas in Punjab.

Areas likely to be affected

The weather update includes alerts for Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and multiple cities in Punjab. Areas like Attock, Chakwal, Gujrat, and Jhelum may see strong winds and hail. Central Punjab – including Faisalabad, Lahore, Hafizabad, Narowal, Sahiwal, and Sheikhupura – could also experience severe weather.

Meanwhile, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, places like Peshawar, Charsadda, Buner, and Waziristan are expected to see heavy rain and possible hailstorms in the next 24 hours. Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan may also experience rain with thunder and lightning.
