WEBDESK: The latest weather update from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) warns of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and possible hailstorms across many parts of Pakistan today and tomorrow.

According to details, a severe weather warning has been issued by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) for Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and several areas in Punjab.

Areas likely to be affected

The weather update includes alerts for Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and multiple cities in Punjab. Areas like Attock, Chakwal, Gujrat, and Jhelum may see strong winds and hail. Central Punjab – including Faisalabad, Lahore, Hafizabad, Narowal, Sahiwal, and Sheikhupura – could also experience severe weather.

Meanwhile, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, places like Peshawar, Charsadda, Buner, and Waziristan are expected to see heavy rain and possible hailstorms in the next 24 hours. Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan may also experience rain with thunder and lightning.

Hot and dry conditions in some areas

Most parts of Sindh and Balochistan will likely remain hot and dry, according to the weather update. However, districts like Zhob and Barkhan in Balochistan might still receive rain and hail.

Warnings from authorities

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning for travellers saying that there is a risk of avalanches and landsliding due to heavy rainfall. The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has also issued warnings about power outages and road accidents caused by strong winds and rain.

In Punjab, the possible severe weather may damage crops. Farmers are advised to take necessary precautions to protect their crops and to stay away from weaker buildings and trees during storms.
