JIT summons 10 PTI social media team members over ‘Anti-Pakistan propaganda’

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Islamabad, has issued Notices of Attendance to several individuals, summoning them for questioning before a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on March 7, 2025. The summons, issued under Section 160 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.P.C.), is part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged organized social media campaign accused of creating chaos and disorder in Pakistan.

The JIT established by the federal government, has summoned 10 members of PTI’s social media team accused of spreading negative propaganda.

It is noteworthy that the JIT was constituted through a notification (F.No.8/9/2024-FIA/) under Section 30 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016.

The JIT is probing individuals involved in anti-Pakistan rhetoric and baseless allegations on social media.

The objective of the JIT is to identify culprits and take legal action against them as per the law.

The following individuals have been issued summons:

  • Asif Rasheed
  • Muhammad Arshad
  • Sabghatullah Warak
  • Azhar Mashwani
  • Muhammad Nauman Afzal
  • Jibran Ilyas
  • Syed Salman Raza Zaidi
  • Zulfi Bukhari
  • Musa Warak
  • Ali Hasnain Malik

The JIT possesses substantial evidence implicating these individuals in the matter, sources claimed.

All summoned individuals have been ordered to appear before the JIT on March 7, 2025, at 12 PM, sources confirmed.

The notices have explicitly instructed them to clarify their position regarding the matter, sources added.
