WEBDESK: Whatsapp has rolled out a new update to improve its call feature, making it easier for users to switch between voice and video calls. The update introduces a new call menu, replacing the separate buttons for voice and video calls with a single call button at the top of chat windows.
What’s New in the Whatsapp Call Feature?
The new Whatsapp call feature adds a call menu to the top bar of the conversations or chat boxes. This replaced the previous two buttons used to initiate voice and video calls with one button. This change makes the calling process easier, ensuring a more user-friendly experience.
In single person chats, this button displays a voice call icon but this does not mean that the users can not make video calls anymore as when users tap on the call button, a new menu open ups and allows the user to choose between a voice or video call.
The menu also gives a shortcut to quickly create and share a call link. This move from WhatsApp will make it easier for people to invite others to join a call.
Additionally, in group chats, users can now select specific members to call instead of ringing the entire group. This makes group communication more flexible and efficient.
Who Can Access the Update?
The update is currently available to select beta testers through the Google Play Store.
Whatsapp has been consistently updating their app to improve its user experience, with recent additions including enhanced call quality and increased participant limits. However, the new call menu is currently in its beta testing phase through the Google Play Store.
A wider roll out is expected in the coming weeks, bringing the improved WhatsApp call feature to more users worldwide.
