Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup, expected to debut in September, is reportedly set to introduce high-refresh-rate displays across all four models, according to a new leak circulating on Chinese social media platform Weibo. However, only the Pro models are expected to support variable refresh rates, thanks to their use of LTPO OLED panels, a feature not expected in the base iPhone 17

The leak, attributed to user Digital Chat Station, also includes early benchmark figures for Apple’s upcoming A19 Pro chip, which is likely to power the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The chip has reportedly scored over 4,000 in single-core and over 10,000 in multi-core tests on Geekbench 6.

In comparison, Apple’s current A18 Pro chip, found in the iPhone 16 Pro Max, recorded scores of 3,490 and 8,606 in the same benchmark. If accurate, the new results suggest a performance jump of around 15 per cent in single-core tasks and 17 per cent in multi-core performance.

The A19 Pro is expected to be manufactured using TSMC’s advanced N3P process, the same technology rumoured to be used for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (also known as Elite 2) and MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9500. All three chips are expected to launch around the same time, setting the stage for a tight race in high-end mobile performance.

As for pricing in Pakistan, the iPhone 17 series is likely to be significantly more expensive than previous models, especially during the initial launch period. While Apple has no official retail presence in the country, devices are typically imported by companies branding themselves as “Apple-certified distributors.” These models usually arrive PTA-approved and SIM-ready.

Initial price estimates suggest the base iPhone 17 could start at around Rs400,000, with the iPhone 17 Pro Max potentially reaching Rs800,000, depending on the storage configuration and market demand.
