Billionaire Elon Musk’s Starlink has finally gotten No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from Pakistani government.

The development has taken place today (Friday).

According to reports, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is also expected to issue a license to Starlink within the next two weeks.

Through Musk‘s Starlink Pakistan will get high-speed internet connectivity to remote and underserved areas. The company’s services are designed to be seamless and will not disrupt existing networks.

Pakistan introduced its National Satellite Policy in 2023 and Space Activities Rules in 2024 to strengthen space communication.

What is Starlink?

A satellite internet constellation which was founded by Elon Musk in 2015.

The Starlink constellation is designed to offer high-speed internet connectivity with latency as low as 20 ms, which is comparable to or even better than many existing fiber-optic networks.

Unlike traditional satellite providers, which often struggle with speed and latency, Starlink uses its fleet of Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites that can communicate with one another to deliver high-speed internet with low latency.

Is Starlink in India?

Recently, India’s Airtel signed an agreement with Starlink and its licence application is nearing initial regulatory approval.

To officially enter India, Starlink still needs to get past several regulatory hurdles and acquire a communications license which the Indian government is currently reviewing.
