QUETTA: Quetta Commissioner Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat has denied media reports claiming that a former government official and his daughter were involved in an assault incident on a flight.

In a statement on Instagram, Shafqaat clarified that the elderly passenger, Jogezai, was not a former commissioner of Quetta or a government official. He further stated that no one from the Jogezai family has ever held this position.

The incident took place on a Serene Air flight from Quetta to Islamabad, where reports claimed that a passenger and his daughter were offloaded after allegedly assaulting a female flight attendant.

According to media sources, the altercation began when the flight attendant asked the woman to fasten her seatbelt and close her tray table. The passenger reportedly became aggressive, used inappropriate language, and later physically attacked the attendant.

The pilot contacted air traffic control and returned the aircraft to the runway. The Airport Security Force (ASF) was called in to remove the passengers. Reports say the woman punched the flight attendant, causing a nosebleed and breaking one of her teeth.

However, Commissioner Shafqaat defended the passengers, claiming they were mistreated first. He said the daughter was only reacting to the disrespect shown to her father.

The passengers were released after submitting an apology. The case has raised debates about airline safety and passenger behavior. More details may emerge as investigations continue.
