WEBDESK: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday reached out to President Asif Ali Zardari to inquire about his health after media reports confirmed that the president had been admitted to a hospital in Karachi. Sources indicated that Zardari had been transferred from Nawabshah to the hospital due to health issues.
Although there was no official statement from the presidency or the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) regarding Zardari’s condition, a source close to the situation confirmed that the president was undergoing some medical tests and would likely be discharged soon. The Prime Minister expressed his concern and offered prayers for the president’s speedy recovery. “May God grant you complete health soon,” said PM Shehbaz in his message.
In addition, the Governor of Sindh, Kamran Tessori, also reached out to Dr Asim Hussain, the president’s physician, to check on Zardari’s condition. He expressed his well wishes and hoped for a quick recovery.
President Zardari, who is 69 years old, has had several health challenges in recent years. In October 2024, he fractured his foot after falling while exiting an airplane. Earlier, in March 2023, he underwent eye surgery in the UAE, and in 2022, he was treated for a chest infection in Karachi. Despite these health issues, he has continued to remain active in politics.
President Zardari was taken to the hospital early on Tuesday morning, reportedly suffering from a fever and infection. Security at the hospital was tightened, and several senior PPP leaders were present to support him. Medical experts at the hospital have conducted various tests to assess his condition. A team of doctors is monitoring him closely. Sources indicate that Asif Ali Zardari is receiving the necessary medical care and that his condition is stable.
