WEBDESK: Islamabad is experiencing a surge in pollen allergy cases as the city’s pollen count reaches dangerously high levels. Recently, the count soared to 45,916 particles per cubic meter, leading to widespread health concerns among residents, particularly those with asthma and respiratory issues.

One of the main contributors to pollen allergy in Islamabad is the excessive presence of paper mulberry trees. These trees release large amounts of pollen, especially in March and April, causing severe allergic reactions. Many hospitals and clinics have reported an increase in patients suffering from symptoms like sneezing, itchy eyes, runny noses, and breathing difficulties.

Health experts recommend several preventive measures to reduce the risk of pollen allergy. Individuals are advised to wear masks outdoors, keep windows closed during peak pollen times, and limit outdoor activities, particularly in the early morning when pollen levels are highest. Those experiencing severe symptoms should consult medical professionals for proper treatment.

In response to the rising pollen allergy cases, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has been directed to take action. This includes removing paper mulberry trees from high-risk areas to lower the pollen count and protect residents from severe allergy flare-ups. Authorities are also promoting public awareness campaigns to educate people on managing pollen allergies effectively.

Pollen allergy continues to be a major concern in Islamabad as seasonal changes bring new challenges. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions and stay informed about pollen levels to protect their health. With government intervention and increased awareness, efforts are being made to minimize the impact of pollen allergies and improve the well-being of Islamabad’s citizens.
