PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced the launch of universal digital payment system which serves as a key development toward transforming the province into a cashless economy. The mandatory digital payment system “Cashless Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” requires online transactions for every business sector including small and large commercial operations.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government stands as first in Pakistan to introduce this holistic digital payment system for the province. Customer transactions will be possible through this upcoming payment system which mobile service providers will develop jointly to serve customers even within areas without internet.

The “Cashless Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” initiative simplifies payment processes between business operators and public users. All companies and public transport systems as well as commercial establishments must display QR codes for digital payments to function under this system. Local economic growth in the region will increase while financial transparency and fraud elimination will be achieved through this strategic move.

Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur called this move a transformative process for KP which brings the province to worldwide digital payment criteria. The digital payment system according to him will lead to enhanced financial security by drawing more private investments and designing a better business environment. The “Digital Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” program functions as the framework for implementing this project to improve the province’s financial infrastructure.

Awareness Campaigns for digital payment system

As part of the implementation process, data will be gathered at the village council level to cover all shops, stalls, vendors, and kiosks. A comprehensive public education effort led by the provincial authorities will support the easy adoption of this new system. The area will receive training sessions to show business owners and public members how to use digital payment types.
