In a significant development, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has revealed on Saturday that the Pakistan women’s cricket team will not travel to India for the ICC Women’s World Cup series.

Pakistan women’s cricket team qualifies for world cup

On April 17, Pakistan beat Thailand at its home ground, marking its fourth consecutive spectacular win which led the Pakistan Women’s cricket team to qualify for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.

The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 is set to occur in neighbouring India later this year.

In a tit-for-tat move, PCB chairman announced that the decision to not send Pakistan women’s cricket team to India had already been finalised through an existing agreement.

Earlier this year, India refused to play its Champions Trophy matches in Pakistan, which was hosting its first major global tournament after decades.

“Just like India did not play in Pakistan in the Champions Trophy and were allowed to play at a neutral venue, whatever venue is decided, we will play there. When there is an agreement, it has to be adhered to,” said PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi.

The Champions Trophy followed a hybrid model in which India played their matches in Dubai, a neutral venue; while, Pakistan hosted the rest of series at its home ground.

Naqvi stated that India, which is set to host the women’s world cup this year, will have to determine where the matches concerning Pakistan’s team will be held.

He asserted that the Pakistan team is ready to play cricket anywhere except India. Furthermore, PCB chairman also acknowledged the performance of the women’s team.

e praised their outstanding performance in the tournament and announced rewards for the players. He expressed confidence that they would maintain their impressive performance in the upcoming World Cup.
