A day before Eid-ul-Fitr, the prices of food have gone up in the cities of Pakistan.
According to reports, despite the official rate of Rs164 per kg, sugar continues to be sold for Rs170 to Rs180 per kg.
The prices of vegetables have also increased. Onions are now cost Rs60 per kg from Rs40 per kg. Lemons have surged from Rs150 to Rs250, and green chilies are selling at Rs200 per kg, up from Rs110.
In Rawalpindi, the prices of mutton and beef have been increased at will. The district administration has fined profiteers and arrested 35 shopkeepers in the Saddar area.
In Quetta, chicken prices have risen from Rs750 to Rs840 per kg, mutton prices have increased by Rs100 per kg, and beef prices have gone up by Rs50 per kg.
Eid-ul-Fitr in Pakistan
Shawwal moon has been sighted in Pakistan, confirmed by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
The moon was sighted in Lahore and Islamabad and is quite visible.
Earlier, it was reported that the Shawwal moon was formed around 3:00pm PKT on Saturday in Pakistan.
Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated tomorrow (Monday) in Pakistan.
