WEBDESK: According to early predictions, Eid Ul Adha 2025 is expected to be celebrated on Saturday, June 7, in Pakistan. However, the final date will be confirmed by Pakistan’s Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, which observes the moon sighting in line with Islamic tradition.
Eid Ul Adha is one of the two major Islamic festivals. It honours the story of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.), who showed unwavering faith and obedience to Allah by preparing to sacrifice his son. Muslims around the world mark this event by offering animal sacrifices, which are then shared with family, friends, and those in need.
The expected date for Eid Ul Adha 2025 is based on the Islamic lunar calendar. In the UAE, astronomers predict the moon will be visible on May 27, making Eid Ul Adha likely to fall on Friday, June 6, there. Due to differences in moon sighting, countries often observe the holiday on slightly different dates.
A central ritual of the celebration is Qurbani (sacrifice), where Muslims slaughter animals such as cows, goats, sheep, or camels, following Islamic guidelines. People often begin preparations weeks in advance, including purchasing animals, planning travel, and organizing charity.
It’s important to note that these are only estimates, and the official date of Eid Ul Adha 2025 in Pakistan will depend on the actual moon sighting closer to the end of May. The Pakistan Meteorological Department and religious authorities will announce the confirmed date accordingly.
Eid Ul Adha 2025 holidays
If confirmed, the celebration of Eid-ul-Adha 2025 will be marked by fewer holidays (since it would fall on the weekend, 7th June, Saturday) as compared to Eid ul Fitr when school students enjoyed extended break.
