Famous Bollywood actor, Emraan Hashmi, has announced the sequel of his 2007 cult famous movie, Awarapan, while also revealing the release date of the upcoming movie.
Emraan Hashmi on March 24 took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to upload a teaser video of Awarapan 2, with a caption: “Bas mujhe kuch aur der zinda rakh… #Awarapan2 in cinemas, 3rd April 2026. #Awarapan2 @VisheshB7 @Visheshfilms #MukeshBhatt #VisheshFilms”
This announcement finally ended years of speculation for fans around the world who loved the classic film in 2027.
It merits a mention that the teaser video that Emraan Hashmi shared on his social media page featured nostalgic visuals from the previous movie.
The original movie was directed by Mohit Suri as it garnered a cult following around the world. The movie also made loyal fans for its groundbreaking soundtrack as Mustafa Zahid made his career’s most famous songs for the movie.
The 2007 film gripped its audience by the seat as a loyal henchman is ordered by his boss to keep an eye on his mistress, and trouble begins when he refuses to kill her.
Mustafa Zahid’s famous song, “Tera Mera Rishta”, became a pop culture iconic song in the era and to this day remains one of the most famous songs in Bollywood.
Social media users reacted with excitement, delight and joy, with one user writing: “Thanks Emmi for bringing back this masterpiece to life in a sequel !!! Eagerly waiting for its release !!❤️”
