Pakistani singer Asim Azhar and actress Merub Ali have announced their separation. The announcement was made on Asim Azhar’s Instagram story and appeared to be a joint statement, but at the time of filing this story, no such statement was issued from Merub Ali’s social media account.
“We hope this message finds you well. We wanted to take a moment to share something personal, as we believe we owe that to those who have supported us fans, friends, and well-wishers,” read the post shared by Asim Azhar.

“After a great deal of thought and reflection, Merub & I have chosen to move forward on separate paths peacefully & mutually. While we shared meaningful moments and genuinely hoped for a future together, life sometimes takes its own course. We have the utmost respect for each other and the families involved, and always will. We kindly ask for your understanding and privacy during this time, and hope this is met with the same grace with which it is being shared,” it added.
Asim Azhar and Merub Ali got engaged in March 2022. In a 2023 interview, Merub had shared that their parents made the decision for them, and they agreed. Recently, during an international tour, Asim was asked about his marriage plans, but he did not respond and jokingly declined to answer the question.
Before Merub, Asim was in a relationship with Hania Aamir. Although they never officially acknowledged it, they were involved in a public spat on social media in 2021, with Aamir calling Asim an “undignified ex.” However, at one point, both had said they were a beautiful part of each other’s lives.
Fans were already speculating about their breakup, as the two had not been seen together lately. One Reddit user noticed that both Asim and Merub were no longer liking each other’s posts on social media.
