China has launched cargo flights to Islamabad for the first time, with the inaugural flight carrying over 25 tonnes of goods arriving at Islamabad International Airport.
According to details, the first cargo flight by SF Airlines from Urumqi landed at Islamabad Airport, marking the beginning of a new trade corridor. On this occasion, Chief Operating Officer and Airport Manager Aftab Gillani welcomed the Chinese delegation.
Speaking on the development, Gillani stated that two cargo flights will operate weekly, with plans for further expansion. He highlighted the longstanding ties between Pakistan and China, adding that the launch of cargo services will strengthen trade between the two countries.
He further noted that the new cargo flights will not only enhance cargo throughput charges but also significantly increase revenue for the Pakistan Airports Authority.
China and Pakistan continue to have strong strategic and economic ties, with both countries encouraging infrastructure development and commerce.
Although major programs like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) continue to be at the heart of their collaboration, both governments have been pushing more and more private sector-led efforts to expand bilateral trade.
