The semi-finalists for the ongoing Champions Trophy have been confirmed following India’s victory over New Zealand.
On Tuesday, India will take on Australia in Dubai, a déjà vu of the 2023 World Cup final in India, where Australia crushed India’s title hopes.
Meanwhile, New Zealand will battle Group B toppers South Africa in the second semi-final at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday.
When is the Champions Trophy final?
The grand finale is set for Sunday, 9 March, kicking off at 14:00 PKT. However, the venue will depend on the finalists. If India makes it through, the match will be played in Dubai. Otherwise, it will remain in Lahore.
India’s refusal to tour Pakistan led to a major compromise, forcing Pakistan to host India’s matches in Dubai instead of its home.
Both semi-finals and the final have reserve days, with the first semi’s backup scheduled for Wednesday, March 5 and the second on Thursday, March 6. If needed, the final will be pushed to Monday, March 10. Each match also has an extra two hours of playtime on both the main and reserve days.
The last Champions Trophy was held in 2017, but this time, Pakistan’s campaign ended in disaste as they failed to win a single match.
