Karachi scorches as temperature nears 39°C

KARACHI (Azaad English): The Meteorological (MET) Office predicts Karachi will face hot weather conditions today as the temperatures will vary between 36°C and 39°C. The temperature report for Monday showed Karachi registered 39.1°C and this type of conditions seems set to persist.

At this time the city faces 40% humidity while northeast winds blow gently throughout the area. The upcoming days will bring ease to temperatures that should reach between 33°C and 35°C. The weather forecast shows that March 12 will mark a substantial improvement as sea breezes will take effect.

Different areas of Pakistan will witness combined meteorological patterns alongside each other. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) along with Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Punjab and Islamabad face a prediction of rain while thunderstorms and snow will accompany them for the next twelve hours. Heavy rainfall and moderate precipitation together with other weather conditions are possible across Kashmir and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regions. A dry and partly sunny climate will dominate all regions of Pakistan during this time period.

This morning the temperature in Karachi measured 22°C , Islamabad together with Lahore experienced 17°C. The highest temperature today in Peshawar reached 19°C followed by Quetta with 13°C and Gilgit shared the climate with Muzaffarabad at 11°C but Murree proved to be the coldest major city with 6°C.

Indian-Occupied Jammu & Kashmir expects Srinagar, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, and Baramulla to receive light snow combined with thunderstorms and rain under cloudy conditions. Light rain combined with thunderstorms will be present in Jammu whereas Leh will experience gentle snowfall and rainfall. The local morning air reached 5°C in Srinagar, Pulwama and Baramulla but reached 6°C in Anantnag and Shopian and both Jammu and Leh maintained temperatures of 18°C and -7°C respectively.

Local residents should drink plenty of water while taking all necessary measures to shield themselves from the sun because Karachi maintains hot weather peaks.
