US deports Pakistani man for residing in the States illegally

United States (US) deported a Pakistani national who was illegally residing in the States.

The man was 56-year-old, he was deported from the US “after being identified by US intelligence sources as a national security priority, designated as removable per the Immigration and Nationality Act.

He was arrested by Dallas Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) on January 31, following a routine traffic stop.

Rizvi had entered the US legally back in 2017 near the New York port of entry and violated the terms of his admission.

Is the US banning Pakistani travellers?

The Trump administration is likely to implement a new travel ban on Pakistan and Afghanistan based on a government review of countries’ security and vetting risks.

However, Pakistani officials say they have yet to receive anything via official channels, and are waiting for official intimation of the policy before making any comments.

According to some news reports, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Rizwan Saeed Shaikh said they had not heard anything officially.

However, the Council on American-Islamic Relations — a leading Muslim civil rights and advocacy organisation — has warned lawful permanent residents, students, workers and other immigrants legally in the United States to avoid leaving the country over the next 30 days.
