WEBDESK: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has decided to outsource rural health centres (RHCs) across the province to enhance medical services. The decision was made meeting chaired by CM Maryam Nawaz, where multiple health sector improvements were discussed.

One of the key approvals included talks of the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital, along with appointing a Board of Governors for its management. Plans were also made to set up burn units, cardiac centres, and children’s wards at the district level to improve specialised medical care.

The meeting highlighted that basic health centres will now offer medical and diagnostic services similar to large hospitals. These centres will provide facilities for general surgery, gynaecology, and medical testing while also serving as referral centres for patients needing advanced care.

Additionally, a proposal was discussed to establish medical cities at the divisional level to treat various diseases more effectively. The meeting also revealed that 225 rural health centres have already been upgraded into state-of-the-art clinics, now operating round-the-clock after outsourcing. The new management model has resulted in a three times increase in patient numbers.

Further decisions included the launch of Jinnah Hospital PIC 2 in Lahore by September 30 and the construction of access roads to Murree Assembly General Hospital. CM Maryam Nawaz also instructed officials to make OPD services functional at the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Sargodha by June.

These initiatives reflect CM Maryam Nawaz’s commitment to improving healthcare accessibility and service quality in Punjab.
